COVID-19 update: Hotspots maintained, testing required from Wollongong diners

01 January 2021

The Chief Health Officer (CHO) yesterday declared COVID-19 hotspots over the Greater Sydney Metropolitan area and the close watch on the rising number of cases in Victoria is being maintained.

If you are intending to travel to the Northern Territory from a COVID-19 hotspot you are advised to rethink your plans. If you are a Territorian intending to travel to a hotspot you are advised to rethink your plans.

Anyone travelling to the Northern Territory who has been in a currently declared hotspot must undertake 14 days of mandatory, supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities at a cost of $2,500 per person.

Additional advice from the CHO asks anyone who attended the Swallowed Anchor restaurant in Wollongong on Saturday 19 December 2020 at any time, and has arrived in the NT since 25 December 2020, to get a COVD-19 test immediately and self-isolate until a negative test is returned as a precautionary measure.

The Chief Health Officer will continue to review and assess the COVID-19 situation in NSW and Victoria and take into account COVID-19 monitoring and data collection, the extent of community transmission and risks to the NT community.
