Steps to restart
The Northern Territory (NT) Government is taking incremental steps towards easing restrictions put in place to combat coronavirus (COVID-19).
Northern Territory Parks and Reserves
From 12 noon on Friday 1 May, some Parks and Reserves will open.
Check what's open on the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture website.
For information on national parks managed by Parks Australia, including Kakadu National Park and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, go to the Australian Government's Parks Australia website.
Parks in designated biosecurity areas
All restrictions for designated biosecurity areas remain in place.
Strict quarantine measures and permissions apply prior to entering any designated area.
Access is restricted to remote community residents and approved essential workers only.
You may not cross a designated area to access the open parks and reserves.
Practice good hygiene and physical distancing
While restrictions are being eased, it is expected that Territorians will continue to adhere to the current hygiene and physical distancing rules.
This includes:
- regular hand washing
- covering a sneeze or cough with your elbow or a tissue and disposing of it into a bin
- ensuring you maintain 1.5 metre distance from everyone other than people from the same household.
Current restrictions
In the coming weeks, the Territory will gradually transition to a 'new normal' - where Territorians can get back to enjoying the Territory lifestyle, while also staying safe from coronavirus (COVID-19).
We have made a start but please check the existing restrictions in place for gatherings.
